Built for EU shoppers tired of surprise fees
Every year, millions of EU shoppers order from non-EU stores and then receive a bill at the door they weren't expecting - VAT charged at the border, customs duty on orders over €150, and carrier handling fees that can add €15–€30 on top.
Dutix was built to fix that. It's a free Chrome extension that reads your cart in real time and shows you the true landed cost before you check out, so there are no surprises.
How the calculation works
When you open Dutix on a shopping page, it detects whether the store is EU or non-EU, reads the cart total, and applies the correct rules:
- EU stores: VAT is already included in the displayed price - no extra charges at the border.
- Non-EU, IOSS-registered, orders under €150: VAT is pre-collected at checkout, plus a flat €3 customs duty per item type, in effect since 1 July 2026.
- Non-EU, not IOSS-registered, orders under €150: VAT will be charged at the border. Customs duty does not apply - these orders are still outside the new €3 duty's scope, for now.
- Non-EU stores, orders over €150: VAT + customs duty (typically 2–12% depending on product type) + a carrier handling fee of €15–€30, regardless of IOSS status.
Privacy
Dutix runs entirely in your browser. It does not send your cart contents, browsing history, or any personal data to any server. The only external request it makes is a rate lookup to the European Central Bank's public API to get current exchange rates.
